The Old Fashioned Guide to Being Healthy

If you want to live a healthy life, like me, you have to be sick and tired with all of those “modern health guides”. The promises made are heavily publicized but seldom do readers report sustainable positive results. Unfortunately you find out after you have laid out your precious money.

I’m not saying that modern health guides are all worthless, as some do work very well. But the advice offered is sometimes too complex for someone to carry out.
Here are my own practical recommendations on how to live a healthy life everyday.

Eating Fresh Food

Back in the cavemen days, man had always been dependent on nature for his food. Even today, we keep scouring the grocery store looking for fresh food to eat. The term “fresh” nowadays means coming from the refrigerator or from the freezer.

That’s fine because refrigerators keep everything inside fresh to a certain degree. However, nothing beats a fruit or vegetables consumed right away after being cooked or eaten raw.

When stored in the freezer, most nutritious food loses their important vitamins and minerals needed by the body. Therefore it’s much healthier to eat fresh mangos or apples than to put them in the refrigerator and wait for them to cool.

In the old days, apples, grapes, apricots, and other healthy fruits were washed and eaten at once. The idea of eating a “chilled” fruit became popular in the 70’s because of the ice cream parlors.

Avoid Ice-Cream

Magnolia invented the idea of making ice cream with fruit flavors. However, ice cream is loaded with sugar and preservatives which can be harmful to your body. People with high blood sugars should take note and avoid eating ice cream altogether…..It also increases the size of your GURTH……avoid ice cream like the plague.

Avoid Breakfast Cereal

Breakfast usually consists of all natural orange juice and breakfast cereal. However, nowadays breakfast cereals are not as healthy as you think.

Most cereals consist of whole wheat and other vitamins and minerals. This should be good but a lot of the cereals have another ingredient that is a big NO-NO —- sugar. Sugar is surprisingly present in almost all breakfast cereals, which is very alarming.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), rates of type 2, or adult onset, diabetes have tripled in the last 30 years. This is due largely to the global epidemic of obesity, a major risk factor for developing type 2 diabetes.

Across the United States and in other parts of the world, specialists who treat diabetes are seeing more children with Type 2, a disease once referred to as “adult-onset” diabetes that can result in blindness, limb amputations and kidney failure as well as dramatically boost the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Type 2 results when the body fails to properly use or make enough insulin, the hormone that moves blood sugar into cells, where it is converted to energy.

A lot of people are eating and drinking sugar-loaded food which they think is healthy and have minimum sugar….come on what do you think Fruit Loops are……or Capn Crunch….unbelievably loaded with large amounts of sugar.

Why do you think kids love these cereals? I would advise everybody to stay away from breakfast cereals that have sugar in them. I generally do not eat any cereal at all.

Occasionally I will eat a bowl of Oatmeal without the raisins and brown sugar. But only occasionally, as a bowl has about 56grams of Carobs.

The cereal products now are more focused on tasting nice rather than being healthy for one’s body.
Eating Alternatives

If would be a better if you ate whole wheat bread instead of cereal.
Brown long grain rice is an alternative. In Asia, rice is the staple food for many people. Even in Europe and in America way back in the early days, rice was a must for breakfast……

But absolutely stay away from white rice….like potatoes, extremely high in Carobs….as you know…. if you don’t burn off the carbs, with exercise, it will turn into sugar and then fat…just stay away from high Carob food….think lean and green when you eat…your liver will thank you for it

Fast Food

When at work, most people will eat fast food. The fast foods that are usually consumed by men, women and children include hamburgers, pizzas, shakes, fries, soft drinks and desserts. Most people consider fast food as the only choice on a busy day. The only problem is that fast food is killing us slowly but surely.

The disadvantages of fast food are plenty. Burgers with 70/30 beef to fat have twice the amount of cholesterol than a burger with 90/10, which is lean beef….think lean!

Many soft drinks have caffeine, which causes the heart to beat irregularly. The biggest culprit in soft drinks is not the caffeine or the artificial sweetener… is the CARBONATED SODA.

If you drink soft drinks obesity will come a calling….sure as God made little green apples, obesity will definitely show up, sooner rather than later.

One of the huge problems with drinking sodas is your immune system……one diet, or regular soda, will shut down your immune system for 12 hours……just one can. That is scary stuff.

A much cheaper and healthier solution is to pack your own lunch consisting of white meats, vegetables, and fresh fruit. However this is difficult for people who want things conveniently and when their time is precious.

If you have to eat out for lunch, or anytime, think lean and green.

When you follow these tips and take action, you will live a healthy life everyday.
