Finding healthy things to eat can be a challenge in our world of fast food, junk food and processed food. Everywhere you look there are lots of tempting treats that are bad for our health! This article is going to help you understand what types of food you should focus on in order to improve your health.

The first thing that you need to do is start eating more fruits and vegetables. These foods contain high amounts of vitamins and minerals, they also have antioxidants and fiber. All fruits and vegetables will help to improve your health, so eat plenty of them! I enjoy filling my plate with fruits and veggies first, and then supplementing with the other types of healthy food.

The second type of healthy food to eat is something that might surprise you: beans and legumes. Most Americans focus their protein intake on meat and animal products, but those foods are actually not the best for your health. Meat is high in unhealthy fats, and it has been linked to serious diseases such as heart disease and cancer. On the other, beans and legumes are high in protein and they are high in fiber, so they are a great health food!

The third type of healthy food for you to consider are nuts and seeds. These foods are also high in protein, and they contain vitamins and minerals that are essential for health. Be careful though, because they are high in calories. So, you don’t want to eat too many of them (otherwise you might gain weight).

The last type of healthy food that you should eat is whole grain products. Brown or wild rice, whole wheat, quinoa, couscous, and barley are just a few whole grains that are available to eat. These whole grain foods are much more nutritious than the highly processed white flour based products.

When you are shopping at the grocery store, you can find plenty of these healthy things to eat around the perimeter of the store. Be sure to fill your shopping cart with plenty of healthy foods and stay away from the sugar and white flour-filled processed foods.
